Family Garden
Brief
Previously the garden had been landscaped by the new build developers, the sloping garden had been laid to lawn with an unusable area to the rear of the garage. Our client asked for an adult garden with areas for a growing family.
Solution
After email exchanges and site visits an initial design was commissioned to capture the client’s wish list, we presented various options for the paving materials and hard landscaping elements within the garden. A small area of lawn was retained for the enjoyment of the children and lovable dog. We used the existing levels to our advantage and cost saving to the client, raised beds of Scottish granite were constructed to form the backbone of the design. The previously unusable area to the rear of the garage was decked in hardwood with a sleeper retainer topped with hardwood boards to form a low bench for the children. The circular paving forms the main feature and provides an adult area whilst being able to see the children on the decked area.
Outcome
The creation of a family garden from a slopping grassed area has enabled the family to finally enjoy outdoor space together. The children have their own zone, whilst the grown ups have theirs. The dog goes wherever he likes.
