Heaven On Earth Landscapes Limited have been creating dream gardens in the north west of England for over 17 years, we have a passion for nature and avidly encourage new garden design to incorporate a place for it.

Listed below are some of our forecasts for 2019 trends

1 Hot gardens

Gardening for an increasingly warming planet is set to be a key trend for 2019.

Creating more ecological gardens which are able to cope with the extreme weather conditions experienced in the UK in recent years.

Planting the correct for the conditions of each garden will save you both heartache and frustration, the ability to harvest water esthetically within a garden design will be a big consideration for any garden designer in 2019.

The use of moisture retentive surface materials and incorporating rich well composted farm yard manure into the existing soils will certainly be the way forward in the coming year

2 Indoors meets Outdoors

The colourful approach to interiors will be creeping into garden design in 2019.

We expect industrial and reclaimed materials and tiles to be used more and more in urban gardens to compliment the growing interior trends.

Brightly coloured walls, outdoor soft furnishing with complementary planting creating outdoor rooms.

3 Wild and perennial gardens

As garden designers we have been experimenting with wildflower and perennial meadows over the past few years both on commercial sites and private client’s gardens, we can see this trend is set to continue into the new year.

The days of wildflower gardens looking like an unkept field are long gone if you have the patience, todays wildflower mixes are also a lot more resilient and cost effective than a pot grown shrub. We can now provide instant wildflower areas with the introduction of wildflower matting.

4 Metalwork and Woodwork

As garden designers we are obsessed with recycling wherever possible, an old garden gate can be used to create a secret garden for children or an old piece of wood a suitable bug hotel. Even old pallets can be upcycled into a garden bar or bench.

We would also expect to see more metal in the garden, it is such a versatile material that lends itself to so many applications, as it ages it also adds an extra dimension of colours that can be picked up by planting schemes.

5 Brave new world of colour

We would expect the rise of porcelain paving to be more prevalent in garden design over the coming years, in theory it won’t be long before the demand for indoor design creeps outdoors.

Brave new colours combining red and purple alongside greys and blue-greys in plant foliage to stand out against the clean lines of the paving.

The trend in younger garden enthusiasts looking to style their outside rooms as they would an indoor room, using bright coloured accessories or furniture.

7 Giving nature a home

d Nature is definitely coming to the fore in 2019, We will see on-going support for wildlife corridors in the wider landscape, especially around the survival of our native hedgehog, whose numbers have plummeted in the past years.

The move toward a slightly looser, wilder style of modern garden design will help support this initiative.

In all of our designs we always consider nature and improve the habitat
